Last year, we decided to purchase a new hedge trimmer. We had a Stihl 2 stroke gas hedge trimmer for years. It was known to be a powerful hedge trimmer and frankly it did a great job. The problem for me was my husband always needed to be around to help me start it, and we changed the fuel/oil mix every time we used it. You see, the hedge trimmer needs a new fuel/oil mix if you are not using the trimmer frequently. On average we used it once or twice a year, so every time we needed fresh fuel. As a woman, I wanted something lighter and ready for use at a moment's notice I could do on my own.  We decided to purchase the EGO cordless hedge trimmer. Here is my honest review:

Pros (in my opinion):

• Light weight: 11.9 pounds with battery

• quiet 

• It uses the same battery as the EGO blower, chainsaw, weed trimmer and pole saw

• Can buy it with or without battery and charger

• Lasts 60 minutes of continuous run time-we can do our whole yard in the spring without a recharge

• No fuel, no mess

• Quick to start: just slide the battery on and push the two trigger buttons to turn on

• Long arm of trimmer: trims bigger bushes

• Great safety feature to decrease injury: multipoint trigger to start: needs two hands on different triggers to start

• Hole at the end of the snout to hang it for storage

• Safety cover for storage 

• Charge time is fast

Cons (in my opinion): 

• I had to get use to counter balancing for the weight of the battery in the rear when I was trimming.

• A little heavy for reaching overhead jobs- good thing my shrubs are not that tall

Overall, my recommendation is that this was an excellent buy for us. As a woman who likes to be very independent, I shy away from equipment and tools with pull starts because I find them difficult for me to start. Well, there is no pull start with this one! With this cordless hedge trimmer, I can slip the battery on and start trimming immediately. We loved this trimmer so much we purchased the EGO chainsaw(Amazon link),and just told my husband the EGO cordless blower (Amazon link) be a great Mother’s Day present. I know, I know, I am a crazy gardener that loves garden tools instead of jewelry…
